iPAQ hw6500 comparison photos

Apparently some more comparison photos appear...This person states the units are quite close in site and shape to the treo and puts a side by side comparison of them..

Hello all. Quick question. I have the new 6500 and I'm pretty pleased with it. However, I have a few pocket pc apps that were not built for 240x240 and therefore they don't display all the fields and the OS is not giving me a scroll problem. Is there a fix to this on the OS side or perhaps a utility that will give me a scroll bar when the fields on the apps are below the vertical 240?

I'm hoping that I don't have to go back to each software developer to get another version.

Thanks!
I think the form factor works fine and you cannot build one device to rule them all it would be a tractor trailer sized device. Each piece must meet the segments needs. I want a pda with integrated KB, phone, BT, WiFi is not a must but ok if its there, decent to fast processor, good memory and yes I would prefer WM2005. So based on this yeah the 65xx/67xx works for me. I had the I700 with 320x240 screen stubby antenna, WM2003 (upgrade took 14+ months) and 64x64 memory config. Worked but it was bulky, no BT and NO option for it etc. So this is a welcome device for me. Waiting until Aug/Sept is tough and the 67xx if WM2005 is true would be worth the wait even if I don't need the WiFi.
I almost spit out my coffee after reading the "pimp screen" comment - I imagined clipping on a hot purple tablet PC down my leg and wearing 2 sparkly antennas with integrated headphones on my head for better reception!!!

IF you want a really small Pocket PC then get a JAM. Otherwise, I would have been much happier if the form factor of the 65XX/67XX were closer to the h4300 series.
RE: Posted by NLS, 2 hours ago "heard it doesn't have bluetooth... (ah and no bluetooth icon on the screen I see)"

To answer you question, YES it has bluetooth. The reason you dont see the standard bluetooth icon is because HP has a wireless manager application that lets you turn on/off/configure ALL your various data connection options from one easy screen. You just click the RF looking icon in the bottom right.
heard it doesn't have bluetooth... (ah and no bluetooth icon on the screen I see)
if this is true, this is not even considered a phone to me (and to the rest of Europe to say the least) - can this be true?

ONCE more, a device along the HP line (coming from Compaq and demonstrated with the latest rx and 4700 series more) that says "could be good but HAS to miss something that it's almost on purpose" (I mean duh... all HP DO have BT for years now) and "let's add something that we'll say it makes it better but we know it could make it worse and let consumers find out" (I still wonder why they didn't add a thumbpad)

anyway, if someone finds use for it - finding it has something really more than an MDA2 or the coming (soon) MDA4 or a more portable non-pocketpc device, so be it

as for me, even if the specs appealed me, just thinking of what I'll feel when I'll try to install common PocketPC apps and they won't (I mean people... think about that) and the support that I'd get from HP for this, it turns me off again... better play with a little P910 or leave my T610 in my pack and use my little 720 with my little bluespoon headset and have the same or better functionality

when someone buys it (when is it out?), please share your thoughts

NLS, I think you're being a little harsh on HP here. There's a huge segment of the market that has refused to even consider buying a Pocket PC device simply because they didn't want to lug around a brick. I am one such person. The hw65xx series is just at the size where if it were any bigger or didn't have an integrated keyboard, I would have no interest in it whatsoever.

Those who criticize the screen always fail to realize that the device is marketed as a mobile MESSENGER, not a tricked-out badass PDA with a pimp screen and wicked fast CPU...
As David Ciccone said and I have been saying since mid February, the screen is too small (240X240); defeats parts of the WM "SE" idea. You'd think after the 63XX fiasco that HP would "think" about the functionality; example tiny GPS mapping & microscopic Pocket IE. Hopefully, the virtual keyboard can be set NOT to popup, but people who scribe will have a "fun" time.

Seems to be another "dynamite on paper" iPAQ... The best quality is that HTC is building it!
NLS you have a good point.. 4x4 screen gets me a bit worried but the user in our 6500 forum says it doesnt bother him.. You might want to read it..BTW we dont ban users unless they use foul language.. Weird that ppcthoughts did that, they usually are good.
Hmmm, trying to keep away from demonstrating my HP sentiments (that banned me from PocketPCThoughts where talking bad about HP is somehow not allowed), just take a look on the lost screen space between this thing and the Siemens branded MDA...
No sorry. If I'd go for something incompatible with most software existing for PocketPC anyway, why choose a PocketPC? (plus coming from a company that I know I'll get support for it just until the next model comes out?)
Is there any DEFINITE push towards 3rd party creators to REALLY implement this resolution in their programs? (yes I know there is "capability" and that there is an MS "guideline" but this is MUCH different than really making them do it) There is just ONE device announced with this screen. This one. Sorry me-no-guinea-pig-for-some-company again (why didn't they add a nice "very functional"... touchpad too?).
I'll wait for MDA IV this summer. Seems to be all my 720 is, plus 3G/GSM/GPRS, plus Magneto... (which btw I do NOT expect for this device)
Great comparison pics thanks. How is the screen on the 6500, everyone seems to harp on the 240x240 but is it clear or does it look as bad as the Treo600 160x160 did?
Not a bad size. I know I like carrying the 6500 better than the 6300. I love the 6300 but I never liked the size and the fact that it looks like a brick. The 6500 reminds me more of a Blackberry. It is light enough to carry in a shirt pocket.
