Review HTC X7510 Advantage

I have just completed a review of the HTC Advantage Windows Mobile device and I am still some what confused as to where it fits in to everyday life but having said that what a great piece of technology. It is basically a large screened Pocket PC Professional device just too big to use as a phone but a brilliant Internet tablet and GPS alternative.

Windows Mobile is a quirky operating system, it was designed to be manipulated with a stylus, times have changed and manufacturers are currently trying to make Windows Mobile devices work by touch alone and for me it is just not working. The main reason is the touch screens are just too small to allow fast accurate touch interaction, the HTC X7510 proves this point very well, why you might ask, well it works as a Touch device brilliantly and it is all down to the large 5" VGA screen. It allows mistakes, it is tolerant of clumsy fingers, it has much more room for error over the usual 2.8" screens found on other Windows Mobile devices. This is why I like the X7510 so much.

Video below shows a brief look around the OS and how usable the device is:-

Excellent Chris, thanks for the extra shots. I have to say though, with all the mounting evidence of health risks associated with prolonged exposure to the use of cellphones by the head, I cannot for the life of me understand everyone's desire to put one up there. I have seen enough evidence to advise all of my customers to either use a BT headset or a wired headset rather than holding the device to their ears.

I understand there will be times when one will not be able to use the headsets but on those far and few between occasions it's enough to use the speaker phone. None of my client's suggest that they need to use the phone to their heads except out of short-sited habbits.
I have just updated the review with some extra pictures of me holding the Advantage and trying to put it in my pocket, you can see the pictures at the end of the review here:- http://www.mobiletechaddicts.com/2008/07/20/review-htc-advantage-x7510/
I would like to see how it looks being carried. Because of the size, I assume you are not going to just clip it to your belt or fit it easy into a pocket. So, with that I would like to see what carrying option there are and how well they do or do not work. Thanks. Chrissyboy. Great review!
Guys I am returning the device on Wednesday, I will shoot some extra pictures, let me know exactly what you want to see and I will do them later today
Alli,

He has a video overview of the outside where he is handling the device with his hands but I agree it would be nice to see him holding it and also showing how it looks with the keyboard covering the device and exposing the proprietary information panel.
Chris you did a great job reviewing this. I didnt know it had haptic! Cool! You brought out things about the device I didnt see any any other reivews! Great job!!
After watching your video, I'm leaning towards HMPC that can make phone calls. I wish I could have seen it in your hand detached from the keyboard. (Or maybe you could have shown us how easily - or not - it slides into your pocket.)
