IE save as question on 4700

Ok am I missing something. I was going to download Dave’s iPAQ Podcast on the 4700. In the save as screen I chose to download it to a directory I made on the compact flashcard. It said there wasn’t enough space for a 25+ meg file on a flashcard with 616 meg left on it. Huh?

I just did it with no trouble. Saved to a folder on my 256 MB card. Try saving to the root of the card without putting it into a folder.

Nope still says “not enough space”. Strange.

Says the same thing for the iPAQ storage which has 76 meg free. This is the first time I have tried this and I did do the rom upgrade.

Removed the card, reset then installed the card again. Same message. I’m at work so I tried my work H5555 and it worked fine. I’m about ready to put it back to the 1.00 version. Is it available? I don’t see the english on the same page as the 1.10 version.

I tried downloading the current POD cast today and it worked fine. ?????

iPAQ hw6500 size does matter

As you can see in this photo HP is sticking a dagger right in the throat of RIM especially in form factor. This unit is identical in size compared to the Blackberry even in height and width. I actually prefer the keys better on the hw6500 compared to my Blackberry. Also in this photo you will notice how nice the screen protector lays on top of the screen..

Smooth – Very Smooth! part 2

Yesterday, I said “I love the form factor! As much as I like my 6315, it always feels a little big in my hand”. When you look at the size specification, there really isn’t much of a difference — or is there? By the numbers, NO, but by the feel YES!

6315 4.68″ x 2.95″ x .73″ (119 mm x 75 mm x 18.7 mm) 6500 4.645″ x 2.795″ x .826″ (118 mm x 71 mm x 21 mm)

When I hold my 6315 in the palm of my hand, the “square” edge design has a direct and distinct impact on its feel and comfort. I believe the consequence of its design made it “feel big” and yet, the new 6500, with just a slight difference in length (0.035), which is really negligible, coupled with a 0.155 smaller width, has a very SMOOTH feel to it. So what is the difference?

Design is everything!

By replacing the square edges with a SMOOTH rounded shape that clearly was designed to comfortably rest in the palm of your hand, HP has produced a device that will fit perfectly in virtually everyone’s hand. The “feel” is totally different where comfort was clearly a priority to the HP design team. When you rest something in your palm, you have less space to “naturally” hold the object in the inner part of your palm than the outer part. By rounding the back side of the iPAQ more than the top, the designers achieved not only a device that is aesthetically good looking but more importantly, a device that gives immediate comfort to the user. This was a great decision!

What does it look like?

You can’t help but be “awed” as you look at the top of the device. Power button in the top right corner, speaker “slits” placed in the middle and an HP logo on the left. A SQUARE screen, different to look at first, covered with a smoke gray flip lid and below the screen we have four buttons (answer phone, calendar, mail, hang up phone) and a VERY COOL joystick for navigation.

And I mean very cool because it has a very slick feel to it as well as a distinct responsiveness to touch. The lower portion has a lighted keyboard which has a slick design and interesting feel to it. I’m not too comfortable using the keyboard — yet. Overall — it looks very nice, as I said before — SMOOTH, VERY SMOOTH!

The “flip lid” deserves some mention. Besides a perfect fit blending into the device as if it was not there, it locks up and stays out of your way when you want to work on the screen — I like that and I expect you will too!

Tomorrow, the sides and back.

H6315 Answers to ROM Release

I still have no formal information about TMobile pulling the h6315 as of today but will make sure I inform you the minute I have the information. But I do have an update on the official US ROM release for the h6315. HP is working on the ROM with enhancements in the following areas..

o Updated WLAN Driver o New GSM/GPRS Firmware o New Bluetooth Stack o Other various feature enhancements

HP has already released a Worldwide English Software Maintenance ROM version for h6340 (SoftPaq SP29511; English) and h6365 (SoftPaq SP29760; English) models which are sold in the Europe and Asia Pacific. This maintenance release was made available February 14, 2005 at HP. Other localized languages are planned for these specific models, including Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Traditional Chinese, and will be released by mid-to late May ’05.

HP is also in the process of developing a Software Maintenance ROM release for the h6315 model sold in the United States under its partnership with T-Mobile. HP says the anticipated release date for this maintenance release is April/May 2005, and will be available from HP at www.hp.com/support FOR FREE!

Hopefully that gives some more direction for our community. As always I will communicate more information as I receive it.

Got Itunes? Like Podcasting? Might want to check this out

I found this on the internet in which I haven’t seen anywhere. If your waiting for Itunes 4.9 which will support podcasts you might want to try out this program. It grabs the IPodder directory and shows all podcasts available for download. I would warn do not use this on an active itunes account since I am not sure if their is any spyware..
