Magic Button

I installed Magic Button onto my 6315 (w/new ROM) per last weeks Tips-n-Tricks — Love the functionality that the program provides! BUT! It seems to cause lock-ups when it running. I did not have any lock-ups before installing it. On Monday, I removed it and I have not had any lock-ups since. Anyone else have this problem? Is there another program like this to try? Thanks!

Rod,

Is that the only app that you added. I have not had any issues with it. I am running the updated ROM from T-Mobile what ROM are you running?

First, I don’t recommend “utilities” especially on the 63XX series. Even the highly acclaimed Spb Pocket Plus causes problems on the 63XX. Therefore, I would uninstall it, and hard-reset your iPAQ; uninstalling alone will still leave the registry entries…

David I have run numerous utilities on all my iPAQ’s with very little problem. Granted the 6300 is not the fastest iPAQ but if you give it a little TLC it runs very well. All of the apps and utilites I recommend I run on my units to make sure that there are not any issues. Obviously everyones configuration differs so nothing is 100%.

I also tested this on my 6500 and it runs without issue. I am glad that they sped up the processor on this unit. I have been very happy with the performance of it and have had very good luck running utilities this as well.

Steve, if the 63XX was built by HTC then I’d be a little less cautious. In general, since “I deem” the 63XX and any WM PE a production machine, I only recommend “have to have” applications be installed. Further, only the best “have to have” that are the most compatible with the PPC in question. My thoughts…Toy or Tool?!
