MSI, the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, is showcasing broad-ranging product categories at Computex 2024 from monitors and computers to business laptops. This coverage focuses specifically on MSI’s new computer components.
The X870 series motherboards—MAG X870 Tomahawk WIFI and PRO X870-P WIFI—unveiled by MSI at Computex 2024 stand out due to their unique design and high functionality. These models, powered by the AMD X870 chipset, are compatible with Ryzen 9000, Ryzen 8000, and Ryzen 7000 processors.
Key features include enhanced screw-less M.2 Shield Frozr heat sinks, the EZ PCIe Release mechanism for easy graphics card removal from PCIe slot with a single button press, and the EZ PCIe Clip II latch that simplifies NVMe SSD installation and removal. The EZ Antenna for wireless Wi-Fi interface can also be easily connected and disconnected.
In collaboration with Kingston, MSI is demonstrating the Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS motherboard that supports CAMM2 form factor memory with up to a 128GB module.
Motherboards for the next-generation of Intel processor-based computers, set to be released in the coming months, are also on display.
At Computex 2024, MSI introduced the AIO MPG CORELIQUID P, I and A series liquid cooling systems, compatible with both AMD and Intel motherboards.
The MPG CORELIQUID P series features MSI’s proprietary EZ DIY design with three fans in one frame. Compared to the 2.4-inch display on the D-Series, these models feature a larger 4.3-inch IPS display that can be angled as required.
The MAG CORELIQUID I series, with a unified UNI Bracket attachment, features a dual-sided Infinity Pyramid Mirror design and is compatible with the PANO MSI chassis series. In addition, the white MAG CORELIQUID I360 WHITE model comes with pre-installed fan and mounting bracket, and pre-prepared fan cables for easy installation.
Showcased at the MSI booth is the new MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ Mid-Tower PC case, available in both black and white, scheduled for release late this year. The case will come with pre-installed PWM controlled and addressable RGB lit 160mm fans on the front panel and a 120mm PWM controlled fan on the rear. The case aligns with current market trends of using large fans on the front panel to minimize noise and maximize airflow.
The case allows for the installation of up to 360mm liquid cooling radiators on the front, top and side panels, and graphics cards up to 390mm in length with vertical mounting support.
For iPhone users and other mobile devices, an external portable magnetic SSD – the DATAMAG 40Gbps/20Gbps Magnetic Portable SSD – is also being showcased. The device comes in an aluminum alloy case and uses the PHISON U21 USB 4.0 single-chip controller, supporting data transfer rates up to 40 Gbps.
Another highlight at MSI’s booth are the new Suprim Fuzion and Expert Fuzion graphics cards with hybrid coolers, capable of delivering high performance when running resource-intensive AI applications.
The Suprim Fuzion graphics card, awarded the “Best Choice” at Computex-2024, is built on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU with an AIO hybrid cooler featuring air and water cooling mechanisms, low-profile pump and special fan design. An enlarged GPU and memory module heat sink allows for effective heat dissipation.
The Expert Fuzion graphics card, on the other hand, is based on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER GPU and utilizes a similar hybrid cooling system reportedly developed by Cooler Master.
The MEG Ai1600T PCIE5 power supply unit (PSU) is also on display, featuring ARGB LED lighting and a premium-grade construction. It is highly power-efficient, ensuring stable operation through the use of the SiC-MOSFET module. The PSU is 80 PLUS Titanium certified and supports the MSI Center, allowing users to monitor their system’s operations.
The MEG Ai1600T PCIE5 PSU complies with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, is fitted with two 12+4-pin 12V-2×6 connectors, and is suitable for AI application-based computers. MSI color codes the 12V-2×6 connectors in bright yellow for easy user plug-in confirmation, an important feature for a secure and reliable connection.
Another PSU, the MPG A1200GS PCIE5, also adheres to ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards and comes equipped with two 12+4-pin PCIe connectors. According to MSI, it is capable of supporting all hardware utilized in gaming computers and those running AI and machine learning applications.
The MPG A1200GS PCIE5 PSU has an 80 PLUS Gold certificate, operates silently, and is expected to be available for sale in versions supporting 1200, 1000, and 850 watts by the end of the year.
