AMD has officially dropped the retail price of the Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card from $449.99 to $419.99. The tech giant also announced that the international sales of Radeon RX 7900 GRE, initially released only for the Chinese market, will commence from February 27th.
Performance and Sales of Radeon RX 7700 XT
Since its initial release, the Radeon RX 7700 XT, built on the trimmed-down Navi 32 XL graphics processor, has not garnered much attention from gamers. The card, offering four gigabytes less video memory compared to RX 7800 XT and priced only $50 cheaper, failed to make its mark. Consequently, the monthly sales of RX 7700 XT have been tenfold lower than the RX 7800 XT’s.
AMD’s Pricing Strategy
After five months since its release, AMD has finally decided to lower the official retail price of the Radeon RX 7700 XT from its initial $449.99. The price reduction, though marginal at only $30, is a positive step. Whether this change will be enticing enough for consumers, only time will tell.
Retailers’ Response to AMD’s Pricing
It should be noted that some retailers had already independently reduced the price of Radeon RX 7700 XT. In some cases, the card was even available for less than $400.
