The captivating robot Astro, previously known as the unofficial mascot of PS VR and the DualSense controller, has now morphed into the main character of its own full-scale platform game. In the May edition of State of Play, the announcement of Astro Bot was made.
Astro Bot’s storyline revolves around old enemies planning an attack on the PS5 mother ship. The crew ends up scattered across space, putting Astro in a position to save his crew and the spaceship itself.
In their quest to locate their missing comrades, players will traverse through six galaxies and over 80 levels of gameplay. Each planet within Astro Bot offers diverse and unique environments to explore, from forests and volcanoes to giant sand clocks and the canopy of a singing tree.
The game also promises interaction with other PlayStation stars, the addition of 15 power-ups like spring-loaded fists and a giant sponge, over 70 enemy types to face and assail and gigantic bosses to defeat.
The game’s developers, Team Asobi, have dubbed Astro Bot as their most ambitious Astro adventure yet, promising maximum utilization of the DualSense controller’s advantages.
The game’s three-minute announcement trailer, which debuted on State of Play, has been met with enthusiast fans’ delight. Almost three thousand people agreed with Luka9S9’s declaration that Astro Bot was “the best game of the entire State of Play“
Designed exclusively for PS5, Astro Bot is slated for release, both digital and retail, on the 6th of September. Pre-orders will be open a week later, with the trailer indicating June 6th and Team Asobi’s PlayStation blog hinting at June 7th.
