Asus is further enhancing its BTF (Back To the Future) product lineup, intended to transform modern gaming PCs into more visually appealing and simpler assembling systems. The motherboard of BTF series has had its main power connectors relocated to the backside, and graphic cards’ traditional 12+4-pin 12VHPWR power connectors now replaced with distinct ones. Their latest addition is a new Z790 ROG Maximus BTF Hero board.
Asus’ Z790 ROG Maximus BTF Hero board comes with a standard PCIe 5.0 x16 connector for the graphics card and an extra PCIe power connector, capable of providing up to 600W to BTF series graphics accelerators. The board also supports the use of traditional graphics cards, in which case the additional power supply to the card would be provided via a standard 12VHPWR cable.
The ROG Maximus Z790 BTF Hero board is a solution for enthusiasts in itself. Essentially, the new product is a Z790 Dark Hero motherboard, with all its connectors relocated to its backside.
Like its original model, the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF offers support for Wi-Fi 7 and is equipped with Q-Code error indicators and Q-LEDs. Its main component is a 23-phase VRM power subsystem based on a 20+1+2 scheme and phases designed to handle up to 90A current.
VideoCardz reports that the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF has been spotted at the French retailer LDLC, where it is being offered for €799, which is €110 more expensive than the standard Z790 Dark Hero variant.
