MSI unveiled their GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT graphics card within the CES 2024 event held earlier this month. Sporting a minimalist design reminiscent of the NVIDIA Founders Edition’s current generation look, the card’s specifications were recently disclosed by insider @wnxod.
Design & Cooling System
The MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT’s cooling system shroud and its reinforcing backplate are all-aluminum and sport a champagne hue, elevating the aesthetics to a premium level. The cooling system incorporates a vapor chamber technology, coupled with heat pipes, to conduct heat from the GPU efficiently towards the heatsink. Further cooling the heatsink are two Zero Frozr fans arranged in a push-pull configuration. The graphics card occupies a 3.5 expansion slot width.
Measurements and Power Requirements
With dimensions measuring 336 x 142 x 78 mm and weighing just under 2 kg, the manufacturer recommends using a power supply unit of not less than 750 Watts. The card’s energy consumption is rated at 320 Watts, aligning with NVIDIA’s reference value.
Performance Specs
The card features a dual BIOS system with quiet and performance modes. Both modes boast a GPU frequency of 2610 MHz, a 60 MHz increase from NVIDIA’s reference value. Moreover, via the MSI Center application, users can push the overclocking profile to 2625 MHz.
Market Positioning and Price
Given the design features and extra overclocking potential, the MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT will position itself as a premium solution in the market, meaning it will cost slightly more than its NVIDIA’s suggested retail price of $999. Reports indicate that some reviewers have received this specific MSI implementation for testing.
Launch Details
The GeForce RTX 4080 Super will be available for purchase starting from January 31. Independent reviews from tech bloggers and media outlets are scheduled to be published a day earlier.
