Greenlight Wireless Corp. announced signing a deal with Plaxo Inc. to integrate the popular Plaxo contact management application into Skweezer. By doing so, Skweezer customers will benefit from having their address books synchronized with the Plaxo Network, giving them anytime, anywhere access to the most up-to-date contact information for their friends, family and colleagues.
Greenlight Wireless is developing a simple and easy-to-use interface to the Plaxo Network that is ideally suited for use on handheld devices, as it has a small bandwidth footprint and support for a wide range of platforms and devices. Plaxo functionality will be a key feature in Skweezer’s suite of wireless productivity tools, allowing users to view contacts and address messages in Skweezer’s mail utility and upcoming SMS and instant messaging components. Plaxo, like Skweezer, has the added benefit of being “portable,” meaning users can freely access their Plaxo contacts through Skweezer, even if they change their device or wireless data plan. Plaxo’s newly released API (application program interface) promises to create a truly seamless integration of the two applications.
Greenlight Wireless’ Skweezer product is a Web-based service that allows users to reformat Web content for wireless-enabled handheld devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs. Customers use the Skweezer portal at www.skweezer.net as a wireless gateway to browse the Internet with Greenlight Wireless’ compression and optimization technology. Upcoming releases of Skweezer will incorporate a suite of messaging, search, shopping, and personal information management (PIM) tools.
