“Hogwarts Legacy receives its first major patch of the year, while a secret director’s edition is in the works for the game.”

Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software’s fantasy role-playing action game, Hogwarts Legacy, has received its first major update in a year. Plus, an unannounced new version of the game may be on the horizon.

Hogwarts Legacy Summer Update

Released on the night of June 6, the Hogwarts Legacy summer update was confirmed in January and includes several community-demanded features:

  • A photo mode with numerous settings, including filters, time of day, and character positioning.
  • The ability to reset skill points, costing 200 gold units per talent.
  • A Hogsmeade ghost shop quest and the appearance of the owner, an onyx hippogriff, and a “Felix Felicis” potion recipe – previously exclusive to PlayStation platforms.
  • Harry Potter’s round glasses with sticky tape, an Azkaban prisoner’s look (robe, cloak), and a broom with a “Lavender Northern Lights” colored tail.

In addition to these new features, the update has fixed a multitude of technical glitches related to achievements, sounds, battles, localizations, interface, navigation, lighting, and ray tracing.

Support for Nvidia and Intel

Specifically on PC, the support for Nvidia DLSS scaling has been improved to version 3.7 and Intel XeSS to 1.3, as well as support for DualSense/DualShock controllers. It’s noted in the change log that AMD FSR 2.0 is mentioned, even though the game has had 2.1 since 2023.

Director’s Edition of Hogwarts Legacy

Concerning the unannounced new version of Hogwarts Legacy, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that a Director’s Edition of the game is being prepared for release. The specifics of what it entails have not been disclosed, but it’s known that many employees of British Rocksteady Studios are working on it. After the failed release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the studio hopes to return to single-player games.

Hogwarts Legacy Success

Hogwarts Legacy was released last February on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and subsequently reached PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. With over 22 million copies sold, the game became the most successful in 2023.
