Patriot Memory Releases Viper PV553 SSD with Tiny Fan and Speeds Reaching up to 12,400 MB/s

Patriot Memory Launches First PCIe 5.0 Viper PV553 SSD

Patriot Memory has officially unveiled the Viper PV553 SSD with PCIe 5.0 standard. This is Patriot Memory’s first M.2 format SSD featuring an active cooling system, including a tangential fan, as announced at the Computex 2023 exhibition last year.

Technical Details of the Viper PV553

The Viper PV553 SSD deploys 232-layer 3D TLC NAND memory chips from Micron. An unnamed PCIe 5.0 x4 standard controller supporting the NVMe 2.0 protocol also forms part of the architecture. Patriot Memory promises sequential read and write speeds of up to 12,400 and 11,800 MB/s respectively and a performance of up to 1.4 million IOPS in random read and write operations.

Cooling System of the Patriot Memory’s Viper PV553

The Viper PV553 is fitted with a 16.5mm high cooling system. Under the system’s cover lies an aluminum radiator along with a tiny tangential fan. For efficient heat transfer between SSD components, the radiator, and the bottom part of the cooling system’s cover, thermal pads are used.

Patriot asserts that the SSD’s cooling system enables a 40% drop in operational temperature under intense loads.

Viper PV553 Availability

The Viper PV553 will be available in 1, 2, and 4 TB editions with a rewrite capacity of 700, 1400, and 3000 TBW (terabytes written) respectively. Patriot will provide a five-year manufacturer’s warranty for all models. Patriot is yet to disclose the pricing details of the new SSD.
