Qualcomm to Launch Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Processor with Oryon Cores in October this Year

Qualcomm’s top manager has confirmed that the new mobile processor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, will be unveiled in October at the annual Snapdragon Summit.

Of late, Qualcomm has been the subject of rumor mills regularly hinting at the imminent introduction of the new mobile processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It’s alleged within the company that the chip is designated by the marking SM8750. The processor has made appearances in benchmarks under the codename ‘Sun.’ Rumors suggest the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to feature four high-performance Oryon cores.

Qualcomm Confirms Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Qualcomm’s senior vice president and marketing director, Don McGuire, confirmed the company indeed plans to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 this year. The chip’s announcement will take place in October. Regrettably, McGuire abstained from sharing any technical details about the chip but hinted at featuring an upgraded AI engine (NPU), anticipating an “evolution in NPU history.”

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Competition

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to directly compete with the future mobile processor Dimensity 9400 from Mediatek, and with the anticipated 3-nanometer process 3GAP Exynos 2500 from Samsung, expected in 2025. The announcement of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 aligns with the release of Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphone series, Xiaomi 15.
