Japanese publisher and developer, Dragami Games, revealed the release date and details for the remastered version of the zombie-slasher game, Lollipop Chainsaw, by the Grasshopper Manufacture studio. The announcement was accompanied by the game’s first trailer.
The revamped version of Lollipop Chainsaw, announced in 2022, was originally touted to be a remake. However, it transitioned into a reissue last fall due to player’s requests. The release was anticipated for the summer of 2024.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is slated for release on September 25, available on multiple platforms including PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The remastered game is priced at $50, with pre-orders opening soon.
Dragami Games describes Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP as the best version of the game, with significant improvements to the technical aspects and gameplay enhancements, while the storyline remains unchanged.
New Features in Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP:
- The PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S versions support 4K and run at 60 FPS, while the Switch remaster runs at 30 FPS in 1080p
- Significantly reduced load times
- Sequential chainsaw strikes increases attack speed
- A new RePOP mode, featuring less violence and more colorful effects, in addition to the original game mode
- New Time Attack and Streamer modes
- Four new chainsaws added
- Over 30 costumes and four new hairstyles
- Juliet’s room has been expanded with new features
- Automatic completion of Quick Time Events (QTE) added
- Unlike the original release, RePOP will not support Russian language.
The debut trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP was positively received by viewers. However, fans were perplexed and disappointed by the less-violent mode, lack of dialogues in the trailer, and change in music.
Lollipop Chainsaw was launched in June 2012 on PS3 and Xbox 360. The plot centers around cheerleader Juliet Starling, who fends off a zombie attack on her school on her 18th birthday, utilizing her chainsaw to dismember the undead.
