So–Where Are You?

HP expanded its industry-leading solution for location-based services (LBS) by integrating position determination software from Cambridge Positioning Systems, Ltd. (CPS) into HP software running on an HP hardware platform.

The two companies signed a reseller agreement under which the high-accuracy CPS Matrix position determination application will be integrated with the HP OpenCall Intelligent Network Server (INS) service control software running on HP NonStop servers.

Both companies will offer the Matrix solution to GSM mobile operators worldwide. The HP LBS solution is built with HP OpenCall and partner applications, HP carrier-grade platforms, and is designed, integrated and supported by HP Services.

Widely known as a leader in the location services business, HP recently won the Carrier LBS Solution of the Year Award from analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.

“The CPS Matrix technology is a very valuable addition to the HP location services portfolio,” said David Bealby, vice president, Telecom Platforms, NonStop Division, HP.

“The integration of Matrix, HP OpenCall software, and NonStop servers can deliver significant operational and business benefits for GSM mobile operators.”CPS’ Matrix application, which is executed in both client and server software, combines location accuracy to under 100 meters, all-environment coverage, and rapid location fixes, all of which are key capabilities needed in a location solution.

“CPS’ Matrix, along with HP OpenCall, NonStop platforms, and LBS expertise, creates an outstanding platform for operators who are seeking to deploy high-accuracy location-based services for enterprises, consumers, and emergency services,” said Chris Wade, Chief Executive Officer, Cambridge Positioning Systems. “We are already seeing increasing levels of demand in established and emerging markets.”
