Apple Set to Launch Artificial Intelligence System
Renowned tech company, Apple, plans to roll out a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) system for iPhone, iPad and Mac during the forthcoming WWDC 2024 event. The system which will be known as Apple Intelligence is expected to come with a plethora of AI features, according to Bloomberg analyst, Mark Gurman. The sophisticated system will also allow developers to access newly developed OpenAI chatbots similar to ChatGPT.
Focus of the AI System
The tech giant would not be concentrating on prevalent AI features such as image or video generation. Instead, it will be offering summary creation and a re-engineered version of its voice assistant — Siri. The AI functionality will be implemented using Apple’s proprietary technology alongside OpenAI tools. More specifically, an algorithm that distinguishes whether a certain task can be processed locally on the device or if it requires access to a remote server.
Data Security and User Privacy
It was previously noted that Apple plans to employ its unique M2 chips with Secure Enclave subsystem in data processing centers. This will ensure the same level of data security during cloud processing as the AI algorithms deployed directly on the device. The firm will cease creating profiles based on user data and will provide reports that confirm that user information is neither read nor sold.
Device Compatibility and User Choice
Access to the AI capabilities will require an iPad or Mac powered by M1 chip or later while for phones, iPhone 15 Pro, or the upcoming iPhone 16 to be launched in the fall, will be suitable. Importantly, the manufacturer will not compel people to use the AI capabilities. Instead, they will be available optionally.
