Weekly Steam Chart: New Releases Occupy Nearly Half of Top 10, as Elden Ring Returns to Top Three Following Pre-Order DLC Launch

The co-op shooter Helldivers 2 continues to top the Steam Sales Chart, with a noticeable increase in new entries in the top 10, from 20 to 27 February.

Helldivers 2 has been steadily growing its audience for the third week in a row, setting a new personal online record with 458,709 players on 24 February. The developers have managed to fix server issues and boosted their capacity, resulting in impressive sales growth. The game has now been purchased over 3 million times on PC and Playstation 5.

Here are the other highlights from the Steam Chart:

  • Role-playing action game Last Epoch by Eleventh Hour Games jumped to second place following its exit from early access, becoming the best newcomer. The game set a new personal best with 264,708 concurrent users, beating not just Diablo IV (28,836), but also Path of Exile (211,637). However, due to server overload, its overall rating dropped by 14% to 71% (based on 58,000 reviews).

  • Elden Ring jumped 39 places to take third spot in the chart, largely due to the recent preview of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and the launch of pre-orders. The expansion itself took the sixth spot in the chart;
  • The second-best newcomer is the survival simulator Nightingale by Inflexion Games (the studio of an ex-BioWare leader), starting from fifth place with an online peak of 47,569 players. Its “Mixed” reviews (61% based on 7,300 reviews) were largely due to technical issues;

    • Third most successful release is the poker roguelike Balatro from independent developer LocalThunk, which earned $1 million just eight hours after its release. At its peak, the game attracted 35,018 concurrent users and 97% of its reviews are positive (over 9,000 in total);
    • The fourth-best newcomer, Pacific Drive by Ironwood Studios, is a survival driving simulator with 80% positive reviews out of a total of 3,200, with a peak of 18,507 players online at the same time;
