Wi-Fi and Baseball — A Unique Experience!

Wayport, the nation’s largest provider of Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) wireless and wired high-speed Internet access in more than 7,000 locations including hotels, airports, McDonald’s, Hertz and other retail brands, announced today that it is teaming up with The Round Rock Express to make The Dell Diamond a Wi-Fi hot spot, with service to be available for the Express’ season opener.

“Bringing Wi-Fi to sports fans at the Dell Diamond presents a great opportunity for Wayport and The Round Rock Express to promote both America’s national pastime and the benefits of staying connected with high-speed Internet,” said Dave Vucina, CEO for Wayport. “The ball park is a great venue for fans and their families and Wayport’s Wi-Fi service gives them another great reason to visit the ball park.”

Baseball fans, coaches, players, members of the press, conference meeting and corporate suite attendees and vendors will be able to use Wayport’s Wi-Fi service anywhere inside the stadium, including individual seats, suites and meeting rooms. Individuals can connect for a low daily connection fee of $3.95, and special pricing is available for groups utilizing the meeting facilities. With any Wi-Fi-enabled device, attendees will be able to check email and surf the Web, send Instant Messages to their buddies in the stands, check online player stats and listen to the live broadcast on The Round Rock Express Web site. Wayport will hand out free promotional coupons to visitors at the park during the first five games of the season and customers can enter for a chance to win a Nolan Ryan autographed baseball once they connect to Wayport’s service.

“This year our team begins a new era of Express baseball by playing our first game in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League,” said Reid Ryan, Owner and CEO of the round Rock Express. “The addition of Wayport’s Wi-Fi services at The Dell Diamond brings a unique experience to our fans that compliments our goal to keep our ball park on the cutting edge.”

Cooperating with the effort to promote both baseball and Wi-Fi technology, Dell, Inc. will provide LatitudeTM and InspironTM Wi-Fi-enabled laptops for a demonstration station at The Dell Diamond. Fans are encouraged to stop by the Wayport table during the first five home games and see first hand the benefits of the Wi-Fi experience on Dell notebooks featuring Intel® Centrino MobileTM Technology
