In a recent publication by The Verge, Senior Editor Tom Warren shared inside information regarding the projected release dates for two anticipated Xbox exclusives.
The Releases: Fable and Gears of War: E-Day
The first game is Fable, developed by Playground Games (creators of the Forza Horizon series). The reboot of the fantasy role-playing series, which was first confirmed in the summer of 2020, finally received its official release date last week.
During the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, a nearly three-minute-long trailer revealed plans to launch Fable in 2025. According to Warren’s sources, the release is set for the fourth quarter, between October and December.
“Fable’s developers, Playground Games, are most famous for the Forza Horizon series, which has always set the standard for graphics on Xbox consoles. It seems they intend to do the same with their new game,” stated Warren.
The second game is Gears of War: E-Day, developed by The Coalition. The prequel to the main series was presented at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 and does not have any official release dates at this time.
Warren reported that a few months prior to the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, he heard about Microsoft’s plans to release Gears of War: E-Day in 2025 – even premiering before Fable.
“Since then, the plans may have changed, so the lack of release dates gives The Coalition some wiggle room. However, I think we’ll soon see what Gears can get out of the Xbox Series S and X consoles,” Warren shared.
