Humane Instructs AI Pin Owners to Stop Using Charger Over Fire Risk
Artificial Intelligence gadget manufacturer, Humane, has urged owners of its AI Pin device to immediately cease using the included charger due to fire safety concerns. The company, through an email communication to its consumers, acknowledged battery issues with the accessory, warning that it “can pose a fire safety risk“.
Measures Undertaken by Humane
Humane announced that it has “disqualified” the supplier of these chargers and is now in search of a replacement. It reassured customers that the AI Pin device itself, along with the magnetic external Battery Booster and charging panel, remained unaffected by this fault. As a form of compensation, the company is offering two months of free subscription, which is necessary for most AI Pin’s functions. Uncertain, however, is whether customers would be provided with a new charger. The company mentioned it would disclose more information once an investigation into the issue is completed. As of now, there has been no news about the battery problem on Humane’s official website or X social network page.
About Humane’s AI Pin
Humane’s AI Pin device was launched in November last year. It is priced at $699, in addition to a $24 monthly subscription tied to the US carrier, T-Mobile. The gadget is marketed as an alternative to traditional smartphones with control available via voice commands, and information projected onto the user’s palm. Despite these advanced features, the futuristic device didn’t turn out as successful as expected, with reports suggesting that Humane is in search of potential buyers for its business.
