AMD Introduces Radeon RX 7600 XT – an Overclocked RX 7600 with Twice the Memory Volume for $329

AMD Launches Radeon RX 7600 XT Graphics Card

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has unveiled the Radeon RX 7600 XT – a new graphics card designed for AAA-gaming in 1080p resolution at maximum graphics quality settings. The card’s specifications also suggest it can handle games in 1440p resolution at medium to high quality levels.

Notable Features of the Radeon RX 7600 XT

In line with other Radeon RX 7000 series models, the Radeon RX 7600 XT supports image scaling technology FSR 3, Fluid Motion Frames generation function available in almost all DirectX 12 and DirectX 11 games, and software package HYPR-RX, which includes Radeon Super Resolution, Anti-Lag, and Radeon Boost technology to enhance gaming performance.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT is built on the same Navi 33 graphics processor with RDNA 3 architecture as the company’s Radeon RX 7600 offering. The processor is manufactured on the 6-nm process and includes 32 execution units (2048 stream processors), 64 AI blocks, 32 ray-tracing accelerators, 128 texturing units, and 64 rasterization units.

Key Differences and Performance Comparisons

What sets the Radeon RX 7600 XT apart are the higher clock frequencies – increased from 2.25 (gaming) and 2.66 (Boost frequency) GHz to 2.47 and 2.76 GHz respectively. Further, the RX 7600 XT comes equipped with double the video memory – boasting 16GB GDDR6 compared to RX 7600’s 8GB, although memory bus width remains the same at 128 bits. Memory speed and bandwidth remain unchanged – 18 Gbps per pin and 288 GB/s.

In terms of power consumption, the Radeon RX 7600 XT’s power requirement has increased, moving up from 165W to 190W. As a result, custom models of the graphics card will include at least two 8-pin connectors or a combination of one 6-pin and one 8-pin connectors.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT shows an improvement in performance in popular games at 1080p resolution with maximum quality settings, including ray tracing, compared to the standard Radeon RX 7600. The new card also delivers commendable performance in games at 1440p resolution with maximum quality settings, albeit without ray tracing.

Partner Requirements and Game Performance

Notably, one minor change for the Radeon RX 7600 XT is that AMD partners are required to equip their versions of the cards with DisplayPort 2.1 ports. While the Radeon RX 7600 also featured DisplayPort 2.1 in its standard configuration, partners were not mandated to incorporate this, thus many opted for DisplayPort 1.4 ports to save costs.

AMD Commentary and Release Date

AMD has noted that the doubled video memory of the Radeon RX 7600 XT positively impacts the card’s performance with various tasks associated with generative AI work. The Radeon RX 7600 XT will be available for purchase from 24th January, with AMD partners taking charge of distribution.
