Anthropic to Allow Creation of Personal Assistants Based on AI Chatbot Claude

Anthropic Enhances Its AI Chatbot to Offer Personalised Assistant Capabilities

Artificial intelligence firm, Anthropic, has introduced a new feature for its AI chatbot, Claude, enabling users to create their own personalised bot assistant. This could assist users in managing emailing tasks, online purchases, and more. This fresh advancement is termed as tool utilization or function call, which can be integrated with any chosen external API by users.

Personalised Assistant Offerings

This development facilitates the creation of a tailored assistant. It could, for instance, analyse user data to make customised product recommendations, deriving results from the user’s purchasing history. Furthermore, it can be beneficial for generating rapid responses to customer queries, such as order status tracking or serving as a technical support tool. This creation requires proficiency in programming and API access. The new function also allows image processing, enabling applications to analyse visual data. Interior designers, for instance, could use a personalised bot to utilise machine learning for processing room images and generating bespoke design suggestions.

Interacting with the New Tool

The novel tool can be accessed via Anthropic’s Messages API as well as on the Amazon Bedrock and Google Vertex AI platforms. The cost of usage depends on the volume of text requests made to Claude’s neural networks, which is measured in tokens. Typically, 1,000 tokens equate to around 750 words. Presently in the beta-testing phase, the Haiku model has emerged as the fastest and most affordable option, priced at $0.25 per million input tokens and $1.25 per million output tokens. Anthropic has been testing this new feature since April, with several thousand customers participating.
