Asus unveils flagship ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III with magnetic OLED screen and the portable ROG Mjolnir power supply.

Asus recently announced its flagship power supply unit (PSU), the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III, which supports the latest power standards. A significant upgrade from its predecessor is its 12+4 pin connector, a feature its predecessor lacked.

The ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III PSU is intended for high-performance gaming systems and boasts an 80 Plus Titanium energy efficiency certification. It uses GaN MOSFET technology, contributing to improved energy efficiency and a more optimized internal structure, allowing for more effective cooling of internal PSU components.

Asus also highlights the PSU’s use of their patented intelligent voltage stabilizer capable of providing a stable power supply to the video card, enhancing overall system performance.

A key feature of the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III is its two 12+4 pin 12V-2×6 power connectors, potentially allowing for the use of up to three GeForce RTX 4090 video cards in the system, assuming the third will use 8-pin adapters.

The ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III’s other highlight is its inbuilt magnetic OLED screen displaying real-time system power consumption information. This display can be mounted on either side of the PSU.

The PSU also supports a “turbo mode” for providing maximum power to overclocked PCs. The full technical specifications are not disclosed by the manufacturer. The PSU’s price and release date are also not announced yet.

Together with the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium III, Asus introduced the ROG Mjolnir portable UPS designed as Thor’s hammer. The UPS is recommended to be carried by its handle. The company does not disclose the new device’s power rating, however, with a 700W PC load, this UPS can continuously operate for up to 60 minutes in the event of a power cut.

The ROG Mjolnir equipped with LiFePO4 batteries can even be used outdoors. Its switching time from the mains supply to battery backup is typically less than ten milliseconds. The batteries can be recharged via a standard wall socket or solar panels, though Asus does not mention the charging time required.

The new device comes with four Schuko sockets, two USB-C and USB-A ports. The maximum charging power via the two USB-C ports is 100W. There is also QI 2.0 wireless charging support, allowing for smartphones to be charged even without a cable. The UPS also features an LCD screen displaying the battery charge status, UPS load levels, and remaining backup power time.

The price of the portable UPS ROG Mjolnir was not disclosed by the manufacturer.
