The latest RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3, from game developers Larian Studios received its third patch today, February 29th, following the sixth major upgrade that was released nearly two weeks ago.
The 20th patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 aims to rectify a list of bugs and glitches that players have reported, and some that were blocking progress in the game.
Among the fixed issues, dark elf Mintara will no longer show excessive independence in the second/third act, and will appropriately follow the team. A similar issue with character Shadowheart was resolved in the past.
The developers have also introduced a number of safeguards to protect Baldur’s Gate 3 from crashing upon failed save file downloads, sending players back to the main menu, and stopping a crash that occurred during pre-loading of advanced cutscenes.
Other significant changes include:
- The second player in local cooperative play will no longer experience a black screen for 30 seconds;
- Characters claiming to be too busy for a conversation with the hero will now be available for dialogue;
- A hidden loophole related to money has been fixed;
- An exploit allowing infinite loot from Sazza’s body has been corrected;
- Different characters can now open chests (such as the camp chest) during trading;
- Halsin will correctly move to his position after the player arrives at the Last Stand Tavern (Act 2);
- A bug that did not allow the environment to take a turn in combat has been fixed;
- Missing textures have been added to the trading interface;
- Developers have removed filters from the trading menu – to be reintroduced in future patches after further checks;
- Certain camera angles in cutscenes will no longer display visual artifacts on character faces.
The twentieth update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available for PC, Mac (finally updated with the sixth patch), and PS5. However, the Xbox Series X and S version is delayed due to stability issues.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was released out of early access on PC (Steam, GOG) in August 2023, and since then has become available on macOS and consoles. Larian Studios recently mentioned that the game has sold “significantly more” than 10 million copies.
