battery life

This am I checked the battery. it was at 85%. Between 6 am and 2 pm I made 3-1 minute or less telephone calls and checked my email probably 2- 3. Battery is completely dead. I know the battery does not have a long life but is this reasonable??

Words of Wisdom..

I’ve discovered a few “idiosyncrasies” which might help you lengthen your battery life. They are as follows:

Do NOT use your unit, it’s just for show

Turn off your Bluetooth Radio unless you absolutely need it. If you carry your phone in your pocket, put it on the Black screen (sleep mode I believe), otherwise when you jostle it, it will activate the screen for 30 seconds each time using up precious battery life. Change your screen brightness setting to the lowest setting necessary to see your screen during the day.

Voice Activation (lovely as it is) will drain it dry

If you are using the POS black Sheathe that comes with the phone, do NOT leave the unit on. Make sure it is on the black screen. The experience I had yesterday was bizarre to say the least:

I went to work, and since I still haven’t found a good clip-style case, I put my phone in the office and went about my morning duties. The phone (at work) rang, and on the other line was nothing but static. Now, Verizon had a tower down in our area so I knew some of my employees might be trying to call in sick, and dismissed it as that. A few minutes later I got another call, same thing. This happened 3 or 4 times. Then stopped. Later that day, my boss called me, and asked me what was wrong with my phone. Thinking he had tried to call me, I told him I had put it up in the office so as not to carry it around in my pocket. He explained that he had not tried to call me, but that my PHONE had called him!! He could hear everything I was saying (since my bluetooth headset was hanging at my hip) but no matter how much he yelled, I couldn’t hear him With this, I immediately checked my recent calls list, and sure enough, there were 8-9 calls made just that morning both to my work, AND to my boss. and NOBODY had touched my phone! I have concluded that the tight confines of that black case had been pressure enough at the bottom to press and hold the CALL button on the phone, and somehow my phone had made a few “random” calls from my address book.

Since then, I have left my phone out of that ugly useless piece of leather-wannabee prison, and haven’t had any problems with my ghost dialer

Go to settings then Button Lock, choose “Lock all buttons except power button” works great! helps power and keeps you out of the dog house with the boss

OK, this is strange. I’ve done it 100 times, and knew I was missing something.. so I went to the Help screen, and looked up “Button Lock” .. Start Menu > Settings > System > Button Lock. Umm.. I don’t have a button lock :/ Anyone else see this missing after the recent upgrade maybe ?

Under system, I have 7 Icons – About, Cert, Clock, Mem, Regional Settings, Remove Programs, and Screen.

gomezaz, I do kinda like the way that one looks, but the doc says you can see the indicator light without opening the case, but the pictures do not show any holes allowing this to happen. This a mistype?

Oh, and where’s the extra bettery go?

A. It does seem you’re missing a few. The available icons I have under Settings/ System are: 1. About, 2. Add Ring Tone, 3. Backlight, 4. Button Lock, 5. Certificates, 6. Clock and Alarms, 7. Device Information, 8. Keyboard, 9.Memory, 10. Microphone AGC, 11. Permanent Save, 12. Pocket Informant (add-on), 13. Power, 14. Regional Settings, 15. Remove Programs, 16. Screen B. How do you adjust your screen brightness wihtout “Backlight”? You listed that as a power savings step. C. I’m not sure how much power the BT handshaking doodad uses, but I was told by a local Verizon store techy that turning it off all the time puts the communication with my devices at risk. This is his emperical experience with other customers. I’ve been taking his advice and have had good luck, though I’m not sure if it is that or the patch I have to thank. D. Tell me exactly what you are looking for in a case. Do you want something soft and roomy (for spare battery) that you wear on your belt but doesn’t come off unless you take your belt off, or do you want something roomy that you also hold in your hand as you use the device. If the former is your device’s dream-home, I have one that is looking for a new tenant. I’ll send you a link to see it if your answer is yes.

My button lock is present.

Well, if it’s any consolation, I do have Spb Plus Running, haha.. which seems to have taken all of my Start / Settings options and moved them to the Today Screen.. hmmm… Bahaha.. Just figured it out! Plus RENAMES the option to “Suspend”. Awesome. Getting into it, Plus has a TON more features than I had realized. However, I did not realize that plus actually REMOVED the icons/options from the default locations, making them much harder to find in the long run.

Kudos to Spb, Get your copy, it’s worth it.

Incidentaly: I think I solved the Bluetooth Ghost Dialer. Remember I mentioned I had an HS810?? Well, the 810 comes with a very nice flashy Belt-clip holster, which is designed to allow you to store the device closed (off) or open (on). AND you know where the MPB is? yup.. right on top, where if you bump that nice case just right, it sends out a connect signal to the device (no matter where it may be).. which in turn dials out the last number redial. Hmm.. again, and again, and again.

Haha.. Funny as this may seem.. after another 16 Ghost calls today, I finally gave up on storing my BT Headset in the ON position.
