Dave’s Ipaq – John Dvorak doesnt think the 6500 will be a hit? @ Dave’s iPAQ

I read an article on Investors.com written by John Dvorak a well respected technology analyst. Unfortunately I think John is a bit off line and should really understand where HP’s market with this unannounced phone is… The enterprise.. John I am shocked at you of all people to comment on a device that hasn’t officially been announced nevertheless base your professional opinion on speculation…Whats even worse for an Investors publication..What are your thoughts?

So where does H-P go from here?

It’s trying to reestablish itself as the market leader in the big storage area networks and continues to promote its printers in what has turned into a razor blade business with the printers being the razors and the ink being the blades.

All this may be beside the point as H-P (HPQ) may be reinventing itself as a phone maker to compete with the likes of Motorola (MOT), Nokia (NOK), Samsung and Sony-Ericsson.

H-P intends to enter the fray with an expensive smart phone called the iPAQ H6515. Yet to be officially announced the online gossip sheets even have pictures of the device which essentially is a PDA that doubles as a phone. Only this one is loaded to the gills with features.

One version will have a camera, GPS, Bluetooth, GSM phone and full featured PDA computer. The previous phones done by H-P have utilized WiFi for potential VOIP usage, but the infrastructure has not developed as expected.
