“Epic Games Store Continues to Lose Exclusives — Kingdom Hearts Series To Be Released on Steam Shortly”

The acclaimed fantasy RPG series Kingdom Hearts, developed by Square Enix, which hit PC in 2021, has been solely available on the digital store, Epic Games Store, for over three years. However, a change is forthcoming.

In a surprising turn of events, Square Enix announced that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts III, and Re:Mind DLC will launch on Steam on June 13.

These games will be released individually, as well as part of the Integrum Masterpiece collection. Purchasing this collection or Kingdom Hearts III with the Re:Mind add-on will grant users the Dead of Night keyblade exclusively.

Pricing strategies for the Steam versions of Kingdom Hearts have not yet been revealed. The games’ pages on the Valve digital store are also missing. The trailer announcing the ports is yet to be released — it will debut today, May 21, at 18:00 Moscow time.

Fans who had abandoned hope over the past three years of seeing Kingdom Hearts in Steam have been celebrating the announcement with excitement and memes. “I thought this day would never come,” , sighed Desma on the ResetEra forum.

Fans of Kingdom Hearts, thrilled by the announcement, are linking the news to Square Enix’s recent reassessment of its game development and release priorities — particularly the company’s decision to lay less emphasis on exclusives.

Beginning in 2002, the Kingdom Hearts series narrates the adventures of Sora and his companions in Disney crossover worlds (“Toy Story”, “The Lion King,” and so forth) and Square Enix universes (Final Fantasy, The World Ends with You).
