The reliable insider billbil-kun predicted aptly– on June 6, the Epic Games Store launched a giveaway of the superhero tactical role-playing game ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ by Firaxis Games, known for the XCOM series.
‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ presents players with the opportunity to lead a team of Marvel superheroes as ‘The Hunter’ to challenge Lilith, the mother of demons. The game combines XCOM and Persona elements within a card-based combat system.
The game was first introduced in December 2022 and has received four expansions featuring new characters, missions, and adversaries since inception. However, only the base edition of the game is included in the EGS giveaway.
Despite critical acclaim, ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ didn’t have a successful commercial launch. The game’s director, Jake Solomon, believes the game’s failings can be attributed to the card-based mechanic’s inability to attract gamers.
A result of the restrictions introduced in the spring of 2022, both the page and the ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ giveaway are unavailable in the Russian Epic Games Store. To participate in the giveaway, an account of any region (excluding Russia or Belarus) is required.
Consequently, Russian users of the Epic Games Store are left without a gift this week. The ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ giveaway will continue till June 13, after which the high-speed futuristic racing arcade, ‘Redout 2’, will be free to download.
The grand Epic Games Store sale where approximately 1,800 items are discounted up to 95%, will also end next Thursday, alongside the ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ giveaway.
