G.Skill introduces DDR5-10600 memory kit — compatible with AMD Ryzen 5 8500G

The 2024 Computex electronics exhibition revealed an array of high-speed memory modules by many RAM manufacturers. Notably, G.Skill demonstrated its fastest two-channel DDR5-10600 memory modules performing on an unexpected processor, the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G.

G.Skill has historically favored the Intel platforms, renowned for supporting high-speed memory, during leading-edge memory module demonstrations. AMD had always lagged in this regard until the launch of the Zen 4 architecture. In a demo system based on AMD, G.Skill showcased its two-channel Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-10600 kits with a total volume of 32GB. These were characterized by CL56-62-62-126 timings and an operating voltage considerably higher than the DDR5 standard. An Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard was also utilized in the demo system.

It would indeed be interesting to watch how the comparative prospects of Intel and AMD change, as no one would feasibly pair super-expensive RAM with a rather cost-effective APU. Interestingly, at Computex 2024, the fastest RAM was not G.Skill’s Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-10600. Patriot exhibited DDR5 modules with a speed of 8000 MT/s, which could be overclocked to 11,500 MT/s.

G.Skill remains mum regarding when its DDR5-10600 memory will hit the market. The manufacturer’s existing range comprises its quickest memory modules, the DDR5-8400. Consequently, G.Skill will likely need further time to test the new high-speed memory modules with various processors, to ensure their stability.
