GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Found to be 15% Slower than RTX 4080 in 3DMark Tests

GeForce RTX 4070 Super Shows Significant Performance Boost Over RTX 4070

The recently tested GeForce RTX 4070 Super has shown to be notably more powerful than the original GeForce RTX 4070, boasting an increase in performance by up to 16%. Regrettably, such a substantial result was not observed with the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Initial Test Result: RTX 4070 Ti Super Shows Limited Performance Improvement

Independent reviewers have concluded initial testing of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super and will soon publish the results. One of these reviewers anonymously provided VideoCardz with the card’s performance data from 3DMark synthetic tests. Preliminary findings reveal that the new RTX 4070 Ti Super is 8% faster than the standard RTX 4070 Ti, and correspondingly 15% slower than RTX 4080. The difference will be even more evident when the impending GeForce RTX 4080 Super is released. It’s noteworthy to remember the RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super will completely replace the original models on the market.

Test Limitations Don’t Reflect Full Potential of RTX 4070 Ti Super

Synthetic benchmarks cannot portray the full potential of the RTX 4070 Ti Super, especially considering the Super model carries 4 GB more video memory than the original RTX 4070 Ti (16 GB for Super vs. 12 GB for standard). Importantly, the 3DMark tests do not tap into all the available video memory, making the difference between the two models not so apparent. Increased memory buffer size proves beneficial for high-resolution games running at maximum quality settings. Nonetheless, performance is contingent on several factors, to a significant extent, the game itself. More graphically-intensive projects may see double-digit performance improvement, while others show less impressive gain.

Availability of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super will be available for purchase from January 24th. Full independent reviews of the graphics card will be obtainable a day prior. Unique to the RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4080 Super, the RTX 4070 Ti Super will not be released as a Reference Founder’s Edition model. Starting from January 23rd, reviews for different RTX 4070 Ti Super versions—with near-reference specifications and a recommended $799 price tag—will be published. The mentioned test results probe one such card, applying the new GeForce 551.15 driver.
