Gigabyte’s fastest consumer solid-state NVMe drive, the Aorus Gen5 14000 SSD, has been launched by the company. The new product is compatible with the PCIe 5.0 standard and offers a sequential read speed exceeding 14 GB/s.
Available Storage Sizes and Performance
The Aorus Gen5 14000 SSD comes in 1, 2, and 4 terabytes versions. The 2 TB model can achieve sequential read speed of up to 14,500 MB/s and sequential write speed up to 12,700 MB/s. The other two versions are slightly slower.
The Inside Operation
The Aorus Gen5 14000 SSD uses the Phison PS5026-E26 memory controller that is manufactured using a 12-nm process and complies with the NVMe 2.0 protocol specifications. They also utilize 232-layer 3D NAND TLC flash memory chips and DDR4 cache memory.
Different Versions and Their Performance
The 1 TB version offers a sequential read speed up to 13,600 MB/s and a write speed up to 10,200 MB/s. The 4 TB option lists the speeds as 14,100 and 12,600 MB/s, respectively. The 1 TB version features 2 GB LPDDR4 cache memory, the 2 TB version has 4 GB, while the 4 TB model contains 8 GB of cache.
Energy and Longevity
The SSD’s maximum power consumption is 11.5 Watts. Gigabyte claims that the drives can last up to 1.6 million hours of failure-free operation or manage up to 3000 TBW (terabytes of rewritten data). The company also offers a five-year warranty on these drives.
