Huawei Confirm Use of Proprietary Chip in Global Release of MatePad Pro 13.2

Huawei has confirmed via its website, a different processor in the international release of its MatePad Pro 13.2 tablet compared to the version sold in China. Huawei’s proprietary Kirin 9000W processor powers the global variant.

The Eight-Core Processor

The eight-core Huawei Kirin 9000W boasts a high-performance Taishan Big core designed by Huawei, clocking in at 2.6 GHz. Three more high-performance Taishan Mid cores, also from Huawei, operate at 2.15 GHz. Moreover, a quartet of power-efficient Arm Cortex-A510 runs at 1.53 GHz. The chip is 7 nm technology-based. Notably, Huawei’s cores support hyper-threading, making some applications detect Kirin 9000W as a twelve-core processor. The Chinese manufacturer tends to provide minimal disclosure of its processors’ technical specifications, apparently due to US sanctions against them.

The other technical features of the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 include a 13.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels, 12 GB of RAM, and built-in storage of 256 or 512 GB. There are 13-megapixel main and 8-megapixel wide-angle cameras on the back of the device, while the front casing houses a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Powering these features is a 10,000 mAh battery that supports 88 W quick charging. The device runs on HarmonyOS 4.0.
