TUL Corporation, known for manufacturing graphics cards under the brands PowerColor, VTX3D (Europe), and Diamond Multimedia (North America), has officially confirmed the closure of its Chinese brand Dataland. This brand has had a long-standing presence in the market.
Dataland specialized in manufacturing affordable graphics cards for the Chinese market based on AMD graphic processors. Its last series, the Radeon RX 6×50, was introduced in 2022. The absence of newer models within the Radeon RX 7000 line suggested the gradual exit of Dataland from the market.
This week, those suspicions were confirmed as Dataland’s website ceased its operation and the brand’s accounts in the popular Chinese online stores, JD and Tmall, were also closed.
Market Readjustment
According to VideoCardz, TUL’s Management decided to end support for Dataland as they refocus their efforts towards the European and North American markets. The company plans to concentrate its production capabilities on manufacturing products under its flagship brand, PowerColor.
Dataland’s Legacy
Throughout its over 15-year history, Dataland has managed to produce dozens of graphic card models based on AMD solutions. Its latest flagship product was the Radeon RX 6900 XT XSerial, an exclusive model featuring a unique cooling system design and high overclocking potential.
Dataland’s exit from the market marks the end of an era for fans of affordable graphics cards in China. Although the brand’s products were not popular internationally, the brand has been a key player in the local market for many years.
Anticipated Responses to the Closure
It is currently unclear how TUL’s partners and customers will react to this decision. It is likely that we will see new lines of affordable graphic cards in the near future, but under the PowerColor flagship brand. However, fans of Dataland’s exclusive designs may find themselves without alternatives.
