Intel to Release Select Core i9-14900KS Processor with a Frequency of up to 6.2 GHz and Increased Power Consumption on March 14th

Intel Set to Launch Flagship Processor Core i9-14900KS on March 14

According to VideoCardz, Intel is preparing to release its elite flagship processor, the Intel Core i9-14900KS, on March 14. The chip has been a subject of multiple leaks, confirming its existence. It appears that this new variant will be the last significant processor for the Intel LGA 1700 platform.

The Core i9-14900KS, similar to the standard Core i9-14900K, comes with 24 cores (8 performance and 16 energy-efficient), supplemented with support for 32 virtual threads. The packaging of this processor will be a traditional blue cardboard box mirroring that of the Core i9-14900K model, the only difference being the ‘Special Edition’ inscription on the KS model.

Enhanced Performance

The elite Core i9-14900KS differs from the regular Core i9-14900K with a maximum clock frequency increased by 200 MHz. The new chipset can automatically overclock to 6.2 GHz instead of 6.0 GHz, but this frequency can only be accomplished on a single core. The base frequency remains unchanged at 3.2 GHz. Additionally, the new chipset has a higher nominal power threshold, standing at 150W in contrast to the 125W of the Core i9-14900K.

Waiting for Official Confirmation

Intel has yet to officially confirm their plans to release the Core i9-14900KS. However, such a guarded approach is typical for the company when releasing special editions of their elite flagship processors. As of now, the price point for the Core i9-14900KS is still unclear. However, the previous elite flagships, the Core i9-12900KS and Core i9-13900KS, were priced by the manufacturer at $739.
