iOS 18 will Allow Apps Protection with Face ID

Information from online sources indicates that the forthcoming iOS 18, planned for release later this year, will introduce Face ID application blocking. This enhancement by Apple aims to significantly boost the level of privacy and security on their smartphones.

Benefits of App Locking with Face ID

The announcement suggests that the Face ID app blocking feature will be compatible with various applications such as Mail, Messages, Notes, Phone, Photos, Settings, Safari, among others. To unlock one of these previously blocked apps, users will need to authenticate using Face ID. The possibility of implementing individual app locks through Touch ID or PIN codes is not ruled out. At this point, it isn’t clear whether this feature will also work with third-party developer applications.

Overall Enhancement of Privacy

Currently, iPhone users have the ability to restrict access to some content using Face ID, Touch ID, or a password. For instance, this method can be used to protect Notes or Photos in ‘Recently Deleted’ and ‘Hidden’ folders. This new update offers expanded privacy options. It ensures that users can restrict access to apps even when the smartphone is unlocked.

Anticipated Launch of the iOS 18

Apple is set to announce iOS 18 at the WWDC exhibition tomorrow. Soon after the announcement, it is likely that the first beta version of the software platform will be available to developers. The stable OS version is expected to roll out in the fall, in line with the company’s iPhone launch.
