Apple’s iOS 18, slated for release in fall this year, is set to introduce new power management settings. These will offer iPhone users more options for setting battery charge limits, and provide notifications if a slow charging device is in use.
Battery Charge Limit Options
Navigating through the ‘Settings’ app, iPhone users can locate the new options provided under the ‘Battery’ section. Previously, the charging limit could be set only to 80%. However, Apple now offers more freedom to alter this parameter. To the existing 80%, users can choose to set the limit to 85%, 90%, or 95%.
Slow Charger Alert
iOS 18 will also feature a new functionality to notify users when a slow charging device is employed to recharge their iPhones. The ‘Battery’ section of the ‘Settings’ app enables viewing of the battery charge level graph. Regular use of slow charging will result in a respective notification being displayed in this menu. The graph itself will change, appearing in an orange color if a slow charging device is in use.
Awaiting Further Details
More specific details on this new development are expected close to the final version’s launch of iOS 18. At this stage, it remains unclear what charging speed will be classified as ‘slow’ by the operating system.
