MSI has released a unique addition to its line of Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) cards boasting a captivating red and black color scheme adorned with an image of a dragon-girl. This innovative design was previously implemented on the MSI GeForce RTX 4060. Both GPUs are designed specifically for the Chinese market and the newly unveiled model is the GeForce RTX 4070 Super Gaming X Slim MLG.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Super incorporates an AD104-350 graphic processor with 7168 CUDA cores, an increase of 1280 compared to the AD104-250 processor in the standard RTX 4070. The new GPU’s base and boost frequencies are 1980 and 2475 MHz respectively. On the other hand, the standard RTX 4070 operates at 1920 and 2475 MHz.
The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Super Gaming X Slim MLG will be available with or without factory overclocking. In the overclocked variant, the GPU operates at a frequency up to 2640 MHz out of the box, and it can be ramped up to 2655 MHz using the MSI Center application. The GPU’s power consumption is estimated at 245 W, which is 25 W higher than NVIDIA’s reference value for the RTX 4070. It is equipped with a 12+4-pin power connector, and MSI recommends a minimum power supply unit (PSU) capacity of 650 W to operate the card efficiently.
The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Super Gaming X Slim MLG comes with a specialized magnetic cover that is installed over the backplate. The aforementioned dragon-girl image is found on this cover, which also conveniently conceals the screws that secure the backplate in place. However, once installed, the magnetic cover obscures a large opening near the radiator, which may slightly reduce the cooling efficiency.
The graphics card measures 307 x 125 x 46 mm, taking up two expansion slots in the computer case. The manufacturer has not yet released the pricing information for this product.
