MSI Prepares Giant GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion Graphics Card with Built-In Liquid Cooling System, No External Radiator Needed

All eyes are on computing giant MSI as they prepare to unveil the colossal GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion graphics card at the upcoming Computex 2024 exhibition. The new GPU – a 4.5 slot expansion – is distinguished by its hybrid cooling system, combining both an air cooler and a closed liquid system.

Industry portal Allround-PC has shared impressions of the behemoth. Based on the GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim model, the cooling system has grown from 3.5 to 4.5 expansion slots and has moved from three fans down to two, incorporating an innovative liquid cooling system.

Unlike other GPUs using liquid coolers that connect to an external radiator, this model relies on an internal radiator. While this does save space within your PC tower, the approach notably increases the thickness of the graphics card itself.

The GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion’s air cooler hides a pump surrounded by small copper radiators, likely responsible for cooling the accelerator’s memory subsystem. MSI asserts the hybrid cooling system to be 15% more effective than traditional air cooling.

“The graphics card is built on a custom printed circuit and is equipped with a hybrid liquid cooling system, tucked beneath an air cooling hood with two fans. This design provides a 15% advantage in cooling efficiency compared to conventional air coolers. The effectiveness of this cooling system is 10% higher than traditional liquid cooling thanks to its 90% shorter liquid supply pipes. At the same time, the closed cooler housing eliminates the need for refilling or replacing the coolant, as well as regular maintenance,” reports Allround-PC.

More details about the GPU, including its technical specifications, are expected to be revealed at the Computex exhibition in early June.
