MSI Reduced Performance of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Ventus 3X, but Has Already Fixed the Issue

Issues with the initial launch of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super video cards due to a problematic MSI Ventus 3X model caused disappointment among several media outlets and bloggers. There was an underperformance issue with the card’s firmware, affecting its speed by 5% compared to other RTX 4070 Ti Super with standard specifications. MSI has now managed to rectify this issue.

The underperformance problem was recognized by MSI some time ago, and the company made efforts to correct it by providing reviewers with two firmware updates. The final update was issued mere hours before the review publishing deadline. Not surprisingly, those reviewers who received the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Ventus 3X were highly dissatisfied with the product.

MSI has expressed apologies for the problematic BIOS firmware for the RTX 4070 Ti Super and released new software versions for all its versions of the card. The update, according to the description, “increases graphic performance“. The company further stated that users will find, following the new BIOS update, that their cards “meet the expected performance standards and even exceed them“.

As reported by Tom’s Hardware, the performance issues with the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Ventus 3X were observed by all reviewers of the card. Its performance was 5% below expectations. The data below shows the performance boost of different RTX 4070 Ti Super models in comparison to the standard RTX 4070 Ti. All cards have standard features. As evident, the Ventus 3X model’s performance has increased the least.

The new BIOS version of RTX 4070 Ti Super from MSI is numbered 95.03.45.40.F0 and has a file size of 6.75 MB. The manufacturer also provided a simple and easy-to-understand guide on how to update the BIOS on the video card.
