MSI has expanded its MAG GL power supply unit (PSU) series with the addition of the MAG A1000GL PCIE5 and MAG A1250GL PCIE5, which boast a power capacity of 1000W and 1250W respectively. The MAG GL series, originally launched in June 2023 consisting only of 650W, 750W and 850W units in compliance with ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 power standards, sees a powerful upgrade with these new models.
The launch of these two new additions also ushers in the integration of the improved 12V-2×6 power connector, replacing its less reliable predecessor, 12VHPWR. These PSUs are capable of transmitting up to 600W of power to the graphics card through the 12V-2×6 connector. MSI also announced the new models’ alignment with more advanced power specifications, ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1.
Both power supply units feature one 24-pin ATX connector, two 4+4-pin EPS for powering CPUs, one 12V-2×6, four 6+2-pin PCIe, 12 SATA, four 4-pin Molex, and one Berg connector each.
The MAG A1000GL PCIE5 and MAG A1250GL PCIE5 models have received 80 Plus Gold certification, denoting their high energy efficiency under load. The PSUs are each equipped with a single +12V rail, active power factor correction systems, full-bridge LLC converters, DC-DC converters, and numerous protection systems.
Cooling of the MAG A1000GL PCIE5 and MAG A1250GL PCIE5 units is managed by a 135-mm fan based on hydrodynamic bearings.
MSI has yet to disclose the pricing of the newcomers.
