Palit Introduces Completely Silent GeForce RTX 3050 6GB KalmX with Ancient Video Output

Palit has introduced the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB KalmX video card, equipped with a passive cooling system. This marks a revival in its range of processors known for their completely silent operation. The previous model in the KalmX series was the GeForce RTX 1650 released in 2020.

NVIDIA’s recently introduced low-powered version of the GeForce RTX 3050 with 6GB of memory is an excellent candidate for the incorporation of a passive cooler. It uses the GA107 GPU with 2048 CUDA cores, a 20% reduction compared to the RTX 3050 8GB model. It also consumes less power, using only 70 watts compared to the previous 130 watts.

The efficiency of the passive cooling system largely depends on the ventilation of the PC case. However, the Palit GeForce RTX 3050 KalmX with its twin-slot thickness and equipped radiator should efficiently handle the dissipation of the heat it generates. The card does not come with additional power connecters. It is recommended to be used with a 300 Watt power supply and due to its size, 163 x 137 mm, is likely to find usage in compact Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs and home theaters (HTPCs).

The performance of the underpowered GeForce RTX 3050 is unknown since NVIDIA has not sent out samples for review. However, it is known that the new model supports ray-tracing technology and has tensor cores needed to support DLSS and RTX Video Upscaling technologies.

Interestingly, the Palit GeForce RTX 3050 KalmX comes equipped with three different video outputs: DisplayPort 1.4a, HDMI 2.1 and Dual-Link DVI. The latter is rarely found in modern video cards. Palit has not disclosed the price of the new product yet.
