Queue Required for Accessing Apple Intelligence AI Features in iOS 18 Beta

Apple Intelligence Features to Roll Out Gradually with the iOS 18 Beta Test

Apple Intelligence’s new artificial intelligence (AI) features, debuted in the iOS 18 operating system beta test, will initially be rolled out on a queue basis. Interested users must register on a waiting list according to information released by MacRumors.

Graymatter: Apple Intelligence’s Code Name

In the iOS 18, the Apple Intelligence feature will be known by its code name, Graymatter. Within the code, phrases indicate a waiting list with text reading ‘Join the Graymatter waiting list’ and ‘Registered in the waiting list’. The phrase ‘limited preview’ also appears. MacRumors quotes, “While Graymatter is in limited preview stage, you might experience unusually slow responses if you are not in a supported region”.

Possible Rollout Challenges

The Apple Intelligence system will kick off with the launch of the iOS 18 beta version. But, considering the glitches encountered by other AI services such as ChatGPT, it’s plausible that access to Apple Intelligence may still be through a waiting list, even post the public release of iOS 18. In addition to the new software platform, access to the system will also require an iPhone 15 Pro device or one of the iPhone 16 models, slated for announcement this autumn, and will ship with iOS 18 pre-installed.
