Canadian studio Cut to Bits and publisher Aniplex have announced the release date of their upcoming Victorian-themed metroidvania, Venture to the Vile. Cut to Bits consists of developers formerly engaged in major franchises such as GTA, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and BioShock.
Venture to the Vile features the whimsical town of Reinbrook, plagued by a curse referred to as “vile” that transforms people and everything it touches into something grotesque and unrecognizable.
In the wake of a fateful encounter, the main character of Venture to the Vile possesses the ability to absorb the vile for new powers. Players will face the challenge of saving Reinbrook and the missing Ella, or they might succumb to the monster within.
The protagonist will undergo radical transformations as he absorbs more of the vile; these transformations will make him increasingly grotesque yet powerful. Taking on monstrous abilities will aid players in combat and maneuvering through the game.
The developers assure that the “playfully eerie” world of Venture to the Vile is not static; the availability of storylines, unexpected upgrades, and new monsters depends on the time of day and weather conditions.
Additional features include an engaging narrative full of charm, over 40 memorable characters, life-altering decisions, innovative puzzles in 2.5D, and an enthralling soundtrack.
Venture to the Vile will be available for purchase on May 7 for PC (Steam) at a price of $25. The game is slated to reach PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 by the end of 2024.
