Civilization VII: 2K’s New Release Announced at Summer Game Fest 2024

The guesswork is over. Instead of the anticipated Borderlands 4, the Summer Game Fest 2024 inauguratory ceremony unveiled 2K’s next big release – Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. The game was initially expected to be part of one of 2K’s most extensive gaming series.

Civilization VII Launch Details

The popular Firaxis Games series will see its next installment, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, launching in 2025. The game will be available on various platforms including Steam (PC, Mac, Linux), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The release announcement was highlighted with an engrossing cinematic teaser trailer.

Gameplay Features

Following its predecessors, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will enable players to lead their chosen civilization. Players will be allowed to expand their borders, construct cities and wonders, venture into wars or diplomacy, and innovate with newer technologies, amongst other gameplay features.

Additional Details and Future Announcements

While the development team at Firaxis Games has been closely guarded about further details on Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, the Steam page revealed that the game would include full Russian localization (both text and voice). Described as a “revolutionary new chapter” in the franchise by Firaxis, the game is set to bring several innovative elements to its gameplay. More insights will be provided during a gameplay demonstration scheduled for August this year.
