Rumor: The success of Baldur’s Gate 3 allows Larian to open a new studio in Europe

While the rest of the gaming industry continues facing a downturn, Larian Studios is reportedly set to expand globally following the triumph of their fantasy role-playing game, Baldur’s Gate 3.

Presently, Larian Studios has six offices located worldwide, including in Ghent (Belgium), Quebec (Canada), Barcelona (Spain), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dublin (Ireland), and Guildford (England).

As per reliable informants of Gamepressure, Larian Studios intends to open a new studio in Poland. Although the exact city remains unknown, Warsaw is being touted as the most likely candidate.

Gamepressure clarified that this information should not yet be considered as an official announcement of the Polish office by Larian. As of now, the studio has not commented on these reports.

It is worth noting, as per Gamepressure, that Larian has previously collaborated with Polish Developers: Anshar Studios (Gamedec) assisted with Baldur’s Gate 3, and Fool’s Theory (The Thaumaturge) contributed to the creation of additional content for Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Even as Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to receive ongoing content support, Larian has begun working on a new game, the details of which remain undisclosed. As per Swen Vincke, the studio head, it is “not what you think.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 exited early access on PC platforms – both Steam and GOG – in August 2023. Since then, it has been made available on macOS, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S. The game is set to receive an “impressive” (150 GB on PC) sixth post-release patch by the end of this week.
