“Doom, Quake, and Borderlands’ Veteran Developers Unite in Emptyvessel Studio; Preparing an AAA-Shooter with Music by Mick Gordon”

An independent game studio known as Emptyvessel has been launched by a group of veterans from scenic development houses such as id Software, Naughty Dog, Activision, and Gearbox. The team is currently developing their debut project.

Based in Austin, Texas, Emptyvessel plans to operate remotely, with team members situated across the U.S, Australia, and Europe. The team comprises of AAA-class developers from popular game franchises like Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, The Last of Us, Borderlands, Tomb Raider, Uncharted, and The Callisto Protocol. At Emptyvessel, the goal is to create “high-quality and engaging games that are a joy to play”.

Emptyvessel’s first project is an exciting AAA-shooter powered by Unreal Engine 5, inspired by “films, graphic novels, and dystopian sci-fi games”.

Additional details about the debut game from Emptyvessel remain scanty. However, the game’s soundtrack will be scored by Mick Gordon, renowned composer known for his work on Doom Eternal, Prey, and Atomic Heart.

Emptyvessel is helmed by id Software veterans, with Emanuel Palalic serving as the CEO and Garrett Young as the COO/General Manager.

Additionally, Emptyvessel has established an advisory board consisting of industry stalwarts like Mick Gordon and Riley Russell, Executive Vice President of Kojima Productions, among others.
