AMD has announced the global launch of its new Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card. The device, recommended retail pricing of $330, is designed for 1080p high quality gaming. The key difference between this and the Radeon RX 7600, released about six months ago, lies in the doubled amount of video memory.
The Radeon RX 7600 XT, like its predecessor, uses the Navi 33 graphics processor and has an RDNA 3 architecture, manufactured using a 6nm process. The chip comprises 32 compute units (2,048 stream processors), 64 AI units, 32 ray tracing accelerators, 128 texture blocks, and 64 rasterization blocks. However, the Radeon RX 7600 XT’s GPU features higher clock speeds, increasing from 2,250MHz and 2,660MHz (game and boost frequencies respectively) to 2,470MHz and 2,760MHz, respectively. Despite the doubled video memory, the bitwidth remains the same at 128-bit, with memory speed and bandwidth remaining unchanged at 18Gbps per contact and 288 GB/s. The energy consumption of the card has risen to 190W.
The Radeon RX 7600 XT competes in the same price range as the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, which comes in 8GB and 16GB memory variants. According to TechPowerUp’s tests, the AMD card performs 18% slower in 1080p games, 21% slower in 1440p, and 10% slower in 4K, excluding ray tracing. The Radeon RX 7600 XT also lags behind its predecessor Radeon RX 6700 XT in most gaming tests, and the older model is now $30 cheaper.
However, the Radeon RX 7600 XT outperforms the RX 7600 by 9%, 10%, and 14% in 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolution games respectively, according to the same TechPowerUp tests. The Radeon RX 7600 XT is also 7% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 at these resolutions. The card also surpasses Intel’s Arc A770 card by about 10% in 1080p and 1440p tests, but falls short in 4K resolution.
With the release of the Radeon RX 7600 XT, AMD has also launched a new version of its graphics driver, which includes the new AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) frame generation technology. AMD claims this technology can boost the Radeon RX 7600 XT’s performance by up to 97% in 1080p games and 107% in 1440p games.
