Samsung Electronics has officially entered the competitive arena of humanoid robotics. During the International Symposium on Robotics (ISR) 2025, a parallel event to Roboworld 2025 held in Goyang, South Korea, one of Samsung’s executives confirmed the company’s active development of humanoid robots. Using its robust manufacturing and logistical infrastructure, Samsung is positioning itself at the forefront of this emerging technology.
Oh Jun-ho, head of Samsung’s future robotics team, emphasized the nascent stage of the humanoid market but expressed a significant demand for these robots in manufacturing settings. “From Samsung’s perspective, the humanoid is a new challenge, yet Samsung boasts an extensive infrastructure as both a technology supplier and consumer,” Oh Jun-ho explained.
A Dual Role Strategy
Samsung’s approach leverages its dual role in the industry; it is not just planning to sell robots but also to implement them within its own expansive semiconductor manufacturing plants and consumer electronics assembly lines. He also hinted at high-level collaborations, mentioning recent interactions with major tech figures such as Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang during his visit to South Korea.
