American game developers Cyan Worlds, known for titles such as Myst, Obduction, and Firmament, announced the release date for Riven, a completely three-dimensional remake of the classic game Riven: The Sequel to Myst. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer.
The reimagined version of Riven: The Sequel to Myst was first unveiled in the fall of 2022, and until recently, has not had a definitive release date. It was only in March that Cyan Worlds reported that the release can be expected in 2024.
Reportedly, Riven will be available for sale on 25th June this year on PC (Steam, GOG), Mac (App Store), as well as on Quest 2 and Quest 3 VR headsets. The game will be priced at $35, with a 10% launch discount available.
Riven is positioned as a genre classic, designed from scratch and offering an expanded remake. Players will be able to freely explore the mysterious world with updated graphics and gameplay.
It is noteworthy that the developers of the original Riven: The Sequel to Myst have contributed to the creation of the remake. The puzzles have been freshened up, new characters and challenges have been introduced, and the plot has been expanded.
The remake promises an “exciting adventure” in a fully 3D expanded world, breath-taking graphics, complex puzzles, built-in VR support, and Russian language translation.
The original Riven: The Sequel to Myst was released in October 1997 and was among the top-selling games that year, with over 1.5 million copies sold. The sequel continues the story of the classic Myst, which debuted in 1993.
