T-Mobile’s HotSpot Handshake

The US-based division of T-Mobile announced that it inked deals with six other wireless operators as part of the Wireless Broadband Alliance. The agreements will enable T-Mobile’s U.S. customers to access hotspots of the other participating carriers, and brings T-Mobile’s Wi-Fi locations past the 11,500 mark, the operator says. Customers can access these sites at no additional costs for the remainder of 2004. Prices for the roaming service kicking off in 2005 have not yet been announced by the operator.

United Kingdom-based BT Group, Italy’s Telecom Italia, Malaysia’s Maxis, NTT Com of Japan, StarHub of Singapore, and Australia’s Telstra are part of the roaming commitment.

T-Mobile USA subscribers will now be able to take their Wi-Fi subscription to the participating WBA carrier member countries,” the wireless operator stated. Additional carriers in Europe and Asia are expected to join in the roaming pacts in the near future,” the Catherine Zeta-Jones fronted operator added.
